Getting stock market quotes could never be easier with Microsoft Excel. With Excel, you can keep everyday quotes in an organized manner. In previous topic, we have revealed how to get stock market quotes in Microsoft Excel 2007 directly, where you can use the features in Excel itself to retrieve the data you require.

 

Beside using the features of Excel, there is an alternative way to save your stock market quotes using the Excel application; to go through the internet browser, like Mozilla Firefox.

 

How to Get Stock Market Quotes in Excel Format Using Mozilla Firefox?

  • Before starting off retrieving stock quotes using Mozilla Firefox, you have to get the internet browser first. If you have already had, then proceed to the next step. Otherwise, you should download it from the internet. To download, you can go to the official website Mozilla.com. It is totally free. After downloading, you have to install the browser to your computer.

  • Upon completion, open your Firefox and it's ready to navigate you. Search for Yahoo! Finance on the search engine. Go to the page from your search results. When you are already at Yahoo! Finance site, remember to bookmark the page, so it will be easier for you the next time.
     

  • On the top left corner, you shall see a text entry box, with the button "Get Quotes". You should fill out the box with stock symbols. If you have more than one entry, separate them with <space>. For instance, if you want to retrieve the data for Agilent Technologies Inc., Motorola Inc. and Citigroup Inc., you may enter "A MOT C" in the text entry box. The results will appear, completed with Last Trade, Change, Volume and some other related information.

  • How do you get the quotes in Excel format? It is easy. Click on "Download to Spreadsheet" at the bottom of the result tables. When prompted, choose "Open with Microsoft Excel (default)". You shall see the result entered to a .csv (comma separated values) file.

  • Go to File, click on "Save As" and give a name of your preference to it. Keep it in your computer and you are done.
